- August 2006 - Betty received the War Bonnet from her tribe for the work she has done on behalf of American Indians of all tribes. She will be on the Tribal Council until 2008.
About the new film
- Patty Collins' new film, Precious Being: Spiritual and Cultural Healing of the Modern American Indian will start filming in early 2008. Precious Being is a personal and historical documentary of the cultural and spiritual healing of Indian Country; an intimate story told by four generations of medicine people and how they picked up the broken stands of native culture and spirituality and began weaving the old with the new, adapting and reinventing and healing themselves, their families and communities. Each generation of medicine people brings a distinct and powerful message of healing that helps the people in mending their broken relationships with creator, themselves, their family and community. This is the story woven from the fabric of the ordinary and the sacred, the beautiful and the pitiful.
